2016/2017 Beavers

Coming off their 1st place finish, 17-3 record and their Championship season the club welcomed back several regulars and All Stars! Lewy, Owen, Christie and Besty were all coming off incredible years and hoped to duplicate it. But there was a major shift in support players and this year saw 4 new faces who would soon become integral parts of this team for the next years. Joining from the new catchment area of La Salle were Laurent Benjamin and Ryan Leonzio. Former Winkler Flyer D Nathan Karlowsky of Brunkild would be tasked in replacing retired Stewart Thiessen. GM Owen added Dustin Bruyere as the newst import. With retirement of Coach Sayer, GM Owen ran the bench until a friend of the guys Zach Rakochy consented to take charge.

Several players were off to great starts including Lewy who racked up 11 points in just 3 games but as November closed, the team was in 3rd as Notre Dame held top spot. After posting some exciting victories during the month, Carman moved into 2nd past Portage. Lewy was tops in scoring while Bruyere and Benji were 8 and 9th of top 10. Put the month of January was not as kind and they closed the regular season in 3rd behind those aformentioned clubs.  Of note Carman was the highest scoring club in SEMHL with 106 GF.

Aaron L won his 3rd Top Scorer Trophy with 50 points in 18 GP. Darren Bestand was honoured with Top D and both were named to All Star teams joined by Steve Christie. Playoffs began with Carman vs Altona Maroons! The Beavers took that best of five in 4 and were off to meet Portage in the semis. After posting 4-3 OT, 6-2 and 5-2 wins, both Lewy and Besty came down with injuries and could not play the remaining games. Hence, but not with a valiant effort from their team mates, Carman lost the next 4 to be out of the playoff picture. Notre Dame would go on to defeat Portage for the Championship.
