The 60th year got off to a rough start off the ice anyways. Tyler King quit as President and with no heir apparent, Dennis Young came out of "retirement". He had been doing the fundraising for the 2 years since he handed over the reins to Tyler but now added President. Then added GM when he relieved Dean Owen from that position too. Next after contacting last year's Coaches, they too had decided to quit! Then Aaron Snidal retired as Trainer as well!!
After hours of futile calls to Alumni to help, October comes and the team preps to hit the ice with no Coach or Equipment/Trainer. Dennis looks over the projected roster and notices Eric Klassen's name there. His Dad Rex Klassen agrees to be an assistant in all matters..on and off the ice for Dennis. Out of the blue he suggests his son Mark as a Coach and that box was quickly checked off. Rex would become his assistant as well. Dennis then confirmed game day volunteers and things looked alot better. The fundraising was still in place from the Covid cancelled season so at least that was a relieve.
On the ice pretty much everyone was back to make one last run. At least that was the sentiment expressed by several vets. By January Carman was in 1st place 6-3 with Aaron Lewadniuk leading the league in scoring again. The line of Aaron, Jake Dudar and rookie Quade Froese were the go to guys for points and wins on this club.
But the rest of the month went sideways dropping 6 of the next 8 to drop to 4th. Portage,Morden and Warren were leading the pack with strong outings/lineups. No secondary scoring was the main problem with the Beavers. Only those 3 broke the double digits in points ( Bestland did get 12 in his 6 games ) and although goalie Steve Christie held them in games it was not enough.
By finishing 4th they had to play a 1 game knockout vs Notre Dame but came out at the wrong end and that was it. Besides all the bad news, the team did have plenty of fun in the dressing room. With it being the 60th, a little more beer and treats were available to the boys.
