Another first place finish and another semi final elimination!! That pretty much sums it up. With all the big guns like Lewy, Mark, Brock, goalie Steve and Besty too returning, things looked great right from first puck drop.
Dressing some new young blood from the Swan Lake area helped the lineup and by mid December the team was 6-0-1. The line of import Jake Dudar, Mark and Lewy were piling up the points as they did the previous season as was Darren Bestland who played in Bossivain last year. Christie more than held his own in between the pipes and led in all goalie catagories mid year.
By January the Beavs were sitting in 1st at 12-3-1, 3 points ahead of Warren and 4 on Altona. Those 3 clubs would battle for top spot the rest of the way. By season end Carman had 29 points ans sewed up the SEMHL Bob Hamm First Place Trophy. Aaron Lewadnuik captured his 5th SEMHL West End Tire scoring title in 6 years! That tied him for the league record with Altona's Harry Bueckert who won 5 during the 60 & 70s! Mark would notch 27 goals playing along side him. Those 2 plus Jake would be named to the All Star teams.
With a new playoff draw inserted into action this year, there was a single game knockout for the bottom 4 teams. Portage beat Winkler while Notre Dame did the same to Morden. Then Portage faced off with the Hawks ina best of 3 which the Islanders won. However it still took 2 weeks to complete so meanwhile Carman, Altona and Warren were idle.
So Portage vs Carman in a best of 7 started off with 2 straight Portage wins as Carman struggled to shake the rust. The Beavers bounced back to take games 3 and 5 but lost 7-3 in game 6 to end the season. In the other series Warren took Altona out in 7 to set up the finals.
